Glenn leaving major broadcast to do a startup

AFAIK, that’s something Ellen has also already BTDT.

But Jason goes on to explain more:

a preview of how explosive this discussion could get

Which discussion? Jason Calacanis interviewing Glenn Beck at the Launch Festival:

All I ask is that you read my words as if I’m a nobody, because I hate the baggage of you judging me by anything more than the words I actually type.

Jason apparently doesn’t want the past intruding on the case he is presenting in the “here and now”… — and I agree that seems like a noble position to take. However, as I myself wrote just the other day:

the vast majority of people prefer a simpleton view that one word has one meaning — regardless of context

    http://remediary.com/2015/01/topics-as-locations-physical-location-vs-virtual-location/

So which case is the winner? Well: Jason himself ends his argument by appealing to something like “the Wisdom of the Tech Industry” (and thereby contextualizing his words 😉 ):

The tech industry is leading our society in terms of social and behavioral change. We have literally changed how people behave on a day-to-day, heck, minute-to-minute basis with our gadgets, games, social networks, and on-demand services. If we are going to lead society by innovating every inch of our lives, we should also lead by picking Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a special holiday during which all work stops.

If he carries through on this, I guess that would mean that at least 4 of the 7 “mandatory” holidays he suggests are “nationalistic” in character (and perhaps Thanksgiving is, too — because this is actually “Thanksgiving in the USA”, since other countries have thanksgiving holidays on different days)
